American Right To Life: The Ann Coulter Hang-Ups

American Right To Life today releases a YouTube video, The Ann Coulter Hang-Ups and its associated website,, documenting the growing rift between the right-wing pundit and popular Christian pro-family leaders. I read an article about the Religious Right in my local paper this week. The article indicated that the R. Right may be self-destructing from within. The Religious Right has been in the political arena for about 30 years now. I am a born-again Christian and have been watching them from the beginning. I’ve listened to them talk about “culture wars”, “pro-life” and “family values” and have to say this: They are fighting the wrong battles. Not just the wrong weapons, the wrong war! The RR has it’s roots in the Old South, a legacy of Jim Crow segregation injustice and the subordination of women. As their spiritual ancestors did, they mis-quote Scripture to justify their positions. No wonder America is in such a moral and spiritual mess. It is no that RR warriors like Jerry Falwell, W. A. Criswell, and others have or had a segregationist background. I’ve watched them try to take the country back to the 1950’s when white male privilege ruled our nation. Our Southern Baptist Convention is still run by these same people today, those who expect wives to be ruled by their husbands. I do not want these people controlling our schools either. I want people who respect the rights of minority religions. RR people would not. The answer to the moral problems of our nation lies not in going back to the past where the problems started anyway, but in obedience to the commands of Scripture: “Love one another”, “Submit to one another”, “Esteem others as better than yourselves” “Humbles yourselves under the mighty hand of God”, etc.The problem with conservatives is they love themselves too much. I find myself agreeing with some of their positions on issues but their agenda is horrible and needs to be junked.
